Weeks 17-20

Size of baby: onion --> sweet potato --> mango --> banana. December 23-January 13. I reached the halfway point carrying Baby Dub #2 on Gabriel's 2nd birthday!!!

Gender: Perry and I went for the official anatomy ultrasound at 20 weeks exactly... the specialist was right! We're having a little GIRL!!!!! Georgia Jane :)

Total Weight Gain: 9 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity pants and a mix of regular & maternity tops. I got several new tops for Christmas!

Movement: On January 2, I woke up to pee around 7am and had trouble falling back asleep. As I was rolling over in bed, I felt my stomach get tight like Georgia was pushing up to the surface, and I felt her kick for the first time!! Then later that same day, as Perry & I were getting into bed, I could feel her moving around again so I had Perry put his hand on my stomach to feel her!! Since then, she is most active early in the morning and late at night.

What I miss: Nothing specific.

Symptoms:
Week 17- Tired, headaches.
Week 18- Dry, itchy skin. Persistent nausea is gone! Getting up during the night to pee started.
Week 19- One episode of sudden nausea, then I vomited. I think it was the 3 clementines I ate on an empty stomach...
Week 20- Felt pretty good! Yay!

Doctor's Appointment:
Her heart rate was 143 at my 20 week appointment and she measured 19w6d on ultrasound- right on track!

Cravings: Pickles.

Best moments: Christmas! Our big boy Gabriel's 2nd birthday!!! Seeing our precious baby again. Her heart rate was 143 and she measured right on track (just 1 day "small").

What we are looking forward to: Gabe's party; working on our registry... for girly stuff!; setting up the nursery.

Gabriel is TWO!!!!

Stats
Weight: 29 pounds (61%)
Height: 35.3" (70%), official measurement at the Pediatrician's! We got 33" which is only the 10-15th percentile, so I didn't think that was right

Favorites
Food: easily hamburgers ("buh-book")! Also pizza, cheese, M&Ms. Dipping sauces are a hit (ranch, ketchup, A1 steak sauce are his favs).
Fruits: bananas, clementines, applesauce sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar
Vegetables: peas
Toys: any and all trucks, inflatable boxer kicking bag
TV shows: We have Netflix now and his favorite show is Kickin' It! He asks to watch it (by saying "cha!") or one of his other favorites, Adventures of Chuck and Friends ("truck"), Good Luck Charlie ("Cha-yee"), Mickey Mouse ("Mickey"), or Thomas the Train ("choo-choo")
Books: Nursery Rhymes (a collection of classic ones with a CD too)
Random: He loves his leopard named Bo-Bo. My Aunt Terri bought it for him when we went to the Zoo in New York in June. He didn't get attached to it until several months later, but now Bo-Bo goes everywhere with him!; He loves watching the trash truck, mail truck and school buses.

-Jumps on two feet
-Bows before/after doing martial arts kicks and saying "sabi" with his hands together
-Pretends to read things
-Recognizes when he has pooped (if you ask him, then tell him to 'tell the truth' and ask again!)

Eating:
He sits at the table on a regular chair. No more highchair or even booster for this boy! He went through a phase where he did not want to hold hands or pray before our meals. That was challenging... he is so precious when he does bow his head and say "Amen!" Gabe eats well with a spoon & a fork, and drinks well from a regular cup (with close supervision).

Sleeping:
Gabriel got a new bed for a new year!! He usually wakes up around 9:00am and yells out for "Daddy!" or "Mommy!" then quietly talks to himself and his stuffed animals for a few minutes before yelling out again. He doesn't even try to climb out of his bed! He went through a period of one or two weeks of refusing to nap, but thankfully it passed! He naps 1 1/2-3 hours in the afternoon. I love being able to climb in and snuggle with him. We usually read books laying down, then I recite a silly poem my Mom made up and would always say to me! He's asleep by 9:30pm.

I can't believe how quickly our baby has grown up into a little boy!!! He is so full of personality and fun. With a feisty side! Perry & I pray for godly wisdom to raise him up to be devoted to the Lord. We treasure and love him very much!

Papa's Cattle Auction

My Dad's certified Black Angus cattle farm is taking off and he hosted his first auction at the end of November!
Gabriel enjoyed looking at the cows in the catalog Papa mailed to us
We were recruited to come up the day before the sale to help with set-up, and we were happy to pitch in! Perry and all the men moved cows, fixed fences, repositioned a huge set of bleachers my Dad rented from a local school, and all sorts of other heavy work. Since I'm pregnant, I just had to hang out with Gabriel *wink wink*. Actually, while he played, I was in charge of tablecloths & chairs in the awesome new sale building. We headed back to Papa & Nana's house for Gabriel to nap and I made a ton of sandwiches for all the volunteers to eat before the sale the next day.

We found out earlier in the week that our second little one is a girl (!!!) so we wrapped up a pretty purple floral butterfly-shaped pillow to make the announcement to them!

Breakfast and TV time
Before the sale... ♥ his overalls!
Silly Uncle Jason!
LOVE MY BOY and this "selfie"!
Hanging out with Papa & Great Papa
It was my first animal auction and a lot of fun! My Dad seemed to have a good turn-out- the barn filled up with people! He had donuts & coffee for everyone as they arrived and a catered dinner later. It was cold outside but Gabriel loved walking around looking at all the trucks and trailers parked in the fields!

Hands in his pants - In love with Uncle Jason's truck - Kick The "Can" (Styrofoam cup)
The next day we relaxed at the house until it was time for some buyers to pick up their cattle. Perry helped my Dad & Kar with that. Uncle Jason & Aunt Kelley had to leave and Gabriel gave them the sweetest hugs goodbye! It was even more bitter cold than the day before but it didn't stop G-man from playing hard! He has so much fun at the farm. And slept so good on the way home!

Back-tracking to Weeks 4-16

Size of baby: Poppyseed to blueberry to lemon to avocado! I found out I was pregnant on September 26 at 4 weeks, 3 days. I reached the 2nd trimester (week 14) on December 2.

Gender: We went to the same perinatal specialist for my 1st trimester genetic screening ultrasound as we did with Gabriel. At 12w, he was able to tell us with a percentage of certainty "in the 90's" that Baby Dub #2 is a GIRL!!!!! We will know officially in a week & a half at my anatomy ultrasound!

Total Weight Gain: 5 pounds (based on the scale at my doctor's).

Maternity Clothes: I pulled all my maternity clothes to the front of my closet around week 9. I could wear regular tops but the pants are just so much more comfortable!

Movement: Nothing yet.

What I miss: Deli meat; Licking the beaters or sneaking a piece of raw cookie dough.

Symptoms:
Week 6- Hungry-nausea started (just like when I was pregnant with Gabriel). I had to eat every 2-3 hours to avoid dry-heaving. I battled constant nausea.
Week 8- Started getting sick, usually in the evening before bed, and the exhaustion started.
Week 9- Hair loss (more than I usually shed!), bad lower back cramp/pains, headaches, vomiting, excessive saliva production!
Week 11- No appetite. Nothing sounded good. At 16 weeks along with Gabriel, I had gained 8 pounds, but was only at 5 due to all the nausea/vomiting I've had! It has lasted so much longer this pregnancy...
Week 13- So exhausted, cramps/body aches, heavy head, vomiting (I had a very embarrassing experience this week but thankfully I was at home, and had Perry to help me!)

Cravings: Ranch dressing, "hearty" foods; aversion to sweets and the taste & smell of coffee.

Best moments: My first doctors appointment was on October 8. By ultrasound, my due date was estimated to be June 2, 2014 and baby was 6w1d. Baby's heart rate was 125 and strong!!

I had another ultrasound at 8w3d because my doctor typically sees all OB patients for the first time at that point. Baby measured about 1/2 a week larger (May 29, 2014) but my EDD didn't change from June 2.

More awesome moments: Finding out that Baby is a girl!!! Hard for me to believe!; Sharing the news with our family; Getting settled in our new house; Halloween; traveling to my Dad's for his first cattle auction; Thanksgiving and my Golden birthday! Lots & lots of posts to come!

What we are looking forward to: Feeling more energized and less nauseous; Transitioning Gabriel from the crib into his new big boy bed {done!}; Setting up the nursery; Seeing our sweet Baby Dub #2 again for the anatomy ultrasound; Gabriel's 2nd birthday!

I just realized...

I can back-date blog posts!!!

Like this one from June 2012 that I finally wrote in December 2013! And there are so many more...

Perry says I am OCD, but I am reorganizing everything so it's all in order. Sorry if there actually are family or friends who read this- it's about to get all shook up!!!
