How far along: 25 weeks (October 6, 2011.. I'm a week behind!)

Size of baby:

Interesting Facts: Measuring about 13 inches long, he weighs approximately 1 1/2 lbs. In the coming weeks, your baby will continue to grow and mature at a fast rate, gaining some baby fat and filling out his long, lean frame. As he gains weight, his skin begins to become less wrinkled and he begins to look more and more like a newborn. Also, his skin is finally gaining some color. His hands are fully developed by this week, fingerprints and all! And at 25 weeks, the structure of the spine is beginning to form.

Maternity Clothes: Yes!

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: Oh yes, we love watching my belly twitch!

What I miss: Nothing this week.

Sleep: I've been sleeping well on my sides.

Symptoms: This week I have felt really good! Very little back pain!!

Cravings: Nothing this week.

Best moment this week: We FINISHED painting in the nursery!!!

What we are looking forward to:
Shopping for the nursery; My Dad & Karlene coming down from VA to go to the Fair!; My first baby shower at the end of the month!!

24 Weeks

How far along: 24 weeks (September 29, 2011)

Size of baby:

Interesting Facts: Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn^), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Total Weight Gain: Still 15 pounds according to my scale.

Maternity Clothes: Yes.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: Lots & loving it!

What I miss: Comfortably sleeping on my stomach! I basically can't anymore.

Symptoms: Back pain; round ligament pain; stretching feeling on my stomach which = itchy skin; muscle tightness {Note to self: start stretching my back/shoulders, arms & legs on a regular basis...}

Best moment of the week: My Mom & Paul got to feel Gabriel move!!

What we are looking forward to: Making progress on the nursery; Hopefully getting more connected at our church; the cooler weather!

Happy Birthday, Emily!

I forgot to do my usual quick post
on her actual birthday, September 15, so...

HAPPY {belated} BIRTHDAY to my niece, EMILY TAYLOR!!!

Last Saturday we went to her 5th birthday party at my sis-in-law's in Concord. The theme was the movie Tangled and, oh, so cute!!
Cassy, Emily (with "Rapunzel hair"!) and friends painting
Em & La La's artwork
Lauren coloring with the rest of the little girls
"Pin the frying pan on Flynn Rider"
Learning to "Walk like a princess"
My turn {I was trying to sit down... I failed!}
Looking so grown up by her amazing cake!
Jello & orange "boat" snacks

After all the kids left, we had some nice family time with the girls, Cassy, Will, Deb "Nonny" & Phil "Pop Pops".
The Tangled dress we got her
Lauren showing off her gymnastic skills
I love this picture & everyone in it!!!

Lamb Chops and French Toast

After Emily's party last Saturday, we headed into Charlotte to my cousin Lucas and his girlfriend's new apartment. It was nice to finally meet Laela, who prepared an incredible dinner for us: lamb chops, rice, zucchini & yellow squash, and salad! Luke had asked Perry to teach him how to build his own computer, so the guys worked on that all night while the girls just talked! We had a wonderful time visiting them. We were their 1st overnight guests- thanks for having us! I'm sad I didn't get any pictures though :(

In the morning, Perry & I woke up early and went another part of Charlotte to my friend Sara Almond's new place! She moved there from Cary for a better job opportunity and I miss her. We ate breakfast at Eddie's Place- we all ordered the french toast! I thoroughly enjoyed mine with hot cocoa, bacon & grits and finished Perry's hashbrowns! After a tour of her apartment, Sara had to finish getting ready for the Panther's game so we left for home. It was so good to see her, even for just a short visit! Pics from Sara's iPhone:

Happy Birthday, Paul!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my step-dad, PAUL!!!
The lucky guy is celebrating with my Mom in Hawaii right now!

Doctor's Appointment at 23 Weeks

We had a good appointment this morning. Perry & I got to meet one of the other physicians in the practice (there are 4 that could potentially be with us at delivery, but until today, I had only seen my normal doctor). We liked her!

A Few Stats

Baby
Due date: no change
Heart Rate: 135-155 with good variability

Mom
Fundal Height: 24 centimeters {right on track- it should be the # of weeks pregnant +/- 2cm}

Weight Gain: My weight today was exactly the same as it was at my last appt, FOUR weeks ago!!! Still up 15 lbs. How in the world?? {I'm pretty sure my scale at home has been going up.} The doctor seemed a little concerned but Gabriel's size is right on track, so we'll just watch it closely. She did give me an answer for the total recommended weight gain, 25-35 lbs. Perry predicts that in the next 2 months, I will gain a lot = the State Fair and Thanksgiving!
Vital Signs: blood pressure 111/60's, heart rate 80

23 Weeks

Interesting Facts: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With his sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that he's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango^), you may be able to see him squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in his lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing him for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze him when she hears them outside the womb.

Maternity Clothes: At this very moment, I'm wearing a pair of my regular jeans!!! Granted, I am pretty uncomfortable. And they are unbuttoned and only zipped 1/3 of the way. But they still fit everywhere else so I'm soaking it up! I only wore them to run some errands and will soon change into pajama pants.

Gender: BOY!!!

Movement: He is still active but not quite as much kicking as last week. He bounces around in there for several seconds at a time! And does somersaults!!

Sleep: Sleeping great lately!

Symptoms: Round ligament pain; Still bad back pain but thankfully it's off & on now; Trouble formulating complete sentences with the right words! At the self-checkout at the grocery store today, I told Perry "I skipped scanning" after scanning a watermelon, then "I mean, you can put it in the box" ??? He just kept looking at me {waiting for me to make sense?} and asked "did you scan it?". What I meant to say was "I skipped bagging, so you don't have to set it in the bagging area. You can put it in the cart". We got a good laugh!

Other Notes: I have accepted the fact that my belly button is going to be an outie {they used to gross me out. I knew a girl in kindergarten who's bb stuck out like an inch!!}

Cravings: Watermelon. Apples.

Best moment of the week: Spending last weekend in Concord/Charlotte= our niece's 5th birthday party on Saturday afternoon, hanging out (and eating a delicious dinner!) with my cousin Luke and his girlfriend, Laela, at their new apartment, then going out for breakfast with Sara and seeing her new apartment!!!

What we are looking forward to: The first day of Fall and another doctor's appointment today; the NC State Fair next month!
