Gabriel at 3 Months Old!

"I see you taking pictures over there, Mom... kisses for Daddy!"

Behind-the-scenes during our photo shoot :)
Likes:
-Staring at ceiling fans {he's obsessed}, bright lights, the TV
-Sitting up with help
-His vibration seat
-Still enjoyed bath time and massage with baby lotion

Dislikes:
-Nothing specific

Clothes/Diapers:
Gabe wore 3-6 mo. clothes and size 2 diapers.

New skills:
-Laughing! We caught his very first one on video!!! I was so excited! It was 2 days before his 3-month birthday (4/11/12).
-Talking a lot more & mocking sounds we made
-Swatting, kicking and talking to the toys on his vibration seat
-Kicking & splashing in the bath
-Found his feet

Eating:
I didn't mention Gabriel's gas in his 2 Month post, but trust me, it was still a problem. For nursing, I used the Boppy in a modified way. I would lay him on it then wedge something (a pillow or rolled blanket) under one side to elevate his head. We still had to use bibs at every feeding/nursing.

Sleeping:
The significant thing that I can remember is that we removed the bumpers from his crib. Perry & I talked about it for a while but I was reluctant; in part because his crib bedding is super cute, but mostly because I thought "people having been using them forever, nothing bad will happen to Gabe". Now I'm glad we did- anything to ensure the safety of my baby!

Hair & Eyes:
Very fine and still pretty dark brown hair. Gabe battled with seborrheic dermatitis, i.e. "cradle cap", for a while. If I remember correctly, dry, flaky skin first showed up just on his forehead around 2 months old and gradually worsened until it covered the whole crown of his head. I mainly applied baby oil to his scalp during baths and used a comb to try to loosen some of the scales. This resulted in a "greaser" look! Our pediatrician recommended using a small amount of adult anti-dandruff shampoo which I tried a few times. Nothing made it go away completely, though; it eventually cleared up on its own between 3 and 4 months old! Gabe's eyes were a deep greyish-blue.

Randoms:
-Perry & I went on our first date since Gabriel's birth on March 25th {Gabe was 10 weeks old}. We saw The Hunger Games!
-His facial expressions were hilarious! His little personality was coming out more & more.
I laugh so hard when I look at this picture!

Can you tell I couldn't get enough of my sweet, adorable, precious little boy?? I still can't :)

Easter

Gabriel's Easter outfit was blue & orange overall shorts with a white polo shirt- so cute! I paid less than $5 for it at Kid to Kid. Score! At the last minute as we were hurrying out the door for church, I remembered we had a white bunny hat that Gabe had never worn. It was the perfect touch for Easter but a little snug on his big head!

A quick shot of my cute boy (in Nonny's arms) during the service
Our Pastor met Gabriel for the first time after church. Hilarious (now) and horribly embarrassing story: while Pastor Doug was holding Gabe facing him, he spit up. All down the front of his shirt! And some went splat on the floor. Pastor Doug was so merciful! He kept saying it was not a big deal, that he always had a change of clothes in his office. Now that's something we'll always remember!

We took some pictures with Grandma and Nonny & Boo before going our separate ways for the rest of the day! How awesomely bold is my Mom's hat? Loved it. Quite a few ladies were wearing their "Easter hats" that morning.

The Easter Bunny brought Gabe some goodies! I had a LOT of fun putting together this Easter basket. A 3 mo. old doesn't need or want or use a whole lot, though. He got a stuffed bunny rattle, an Elmo bath book, bedtime baby lotion, sunglasses, an O'ball, and a few empty plastic eggs :) Daddy picked out his Easter basket robot tin bucket {we use it for toy storage now}. I used to make Perry an Easter basket, but didn't this year since we have a kid now. Sorry dear!

What Daddy and Gabriel really thought of the sunglasses!

Perry & I played basketball that afternoon. If I remember correctly, I won HORSE. He won GABRIEL. But then I won GABE, the tie breaker (just like the game HORSE, we just thought it was more fun to spell out our son's name). I made an unusual amount of my shots, even with a baby in one arm! It was approaching Gabe's nap time so we let him sleep in his vibration seat in the shade.

Precious sleepy boy.

Happy 1st Easter, Gabriel Turner!! We hope in the years to come, you appreciate this day of celebration of the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ!

My DIY Baby Mobile

When I revealed pictures of the nursery here, I had not yet started finished the mobile. I put the project off until the last weekend before Gabriel's due date and never had the chance to do it! Yes, I'm a procrastinator. Anyway, when he was ~2 weeks old, the 3 of us headed out, mainly because I was getting cabin fever. We took turns staying in the car with the baby because he was still too little to go into public/crowded places; I ran into Michael's to get the supplies for the mobile, then Perry went into Target to pick up a few things.

In my search for unique mobiles, I found this DIY on Chic Spaces For Little Faces! It's basically a million circles cut out of scrapbook paper, threaded onto fishing line and hung from wooden dowels. I worked on it for an hour here, 30 minutes there for a few days... a newborn keeps you busy! The materials list and instructions with pictures were so helpful! I LOVE how mine turned out!!

View from the door

Now that Gabe is a lot more aware of his surroundings, he enjoys looking at it & watching it flutter when the fan {also one of his obsessions} is turned on!

Baby's Astrological Sign

I'm not into astrology and horoscopes but The Bump e-mailed this to me: What's Baby's Astrological Sign?

I hadn't even thought about what Gabriel is. Well, I learned he is a Capricorn baby! A goat. Pretty cute, if you ask me!

"Capricorn babies are very advanced mentally, and they’re achievers. 'They want to do things before other babies do, like crawling or talking,' says Oliver. 'They can get frustrated if their physical development hasn’t caught up with their mental development. So encourage them to make those big leaps, but be patient when they’re frustrated.'"
